‘There’s a help wanted sign on a hearse, and I’m laughing, standing somewhere in-between a busy brewery and a busier parking lot. It’s hot, and it’s only getting hotter the more I walk. I’m having the hardest time remembering if it was always like this—if it was always hot, an angry heat even, or if I remembered the wrong moments. I can see waving flags, heat waves and it reminds me of a bad pop lyric that croons ‘my worlds on fire how about yours?’ And I’m realising that not all that glitters gets sold, and I’m confronting the reality that the places that I knew and loved have changed more than I have over the past two years or so.’
